United European Car Carriers (UECC) is proceeding with the construction of its second LNG-powered ro-ro vessel.

The steel cutting ceremony for the pure car truck carrier (PCTC) vessel took place at the Jiangnan Shipyard in Shanghai, China on May 20. As HLPFI reported here, UECC will take delivery of three PCTC’s.

Glenn Edvardsen, ceo at UECC said: “The LNG/battery/hybrid installation will be a pioneering design and will take UECC beyond the IMO target of 40 percent reduction in carbon intensity by 2030.”
