November 16 - GAC's project logistics experts have coordinated the delivery of a pair of water-cooled reactors to the Pemex petrochemical complex in Morelos, Mexico.

The reactors, each nearly 23 m long and weighing in at 860 tonnes, were first shipped to the port of Coatzacoalcos from Yokohama, Japan. But it was the last leg of the voyage - about 8 km by road to the refinery - that proved the most challenging, explained GAC, as heavy rain and flash floods meant that the transportation was delayed by three weeks.

Not only did the rain make for less than perfect road transport conditions, but it also disrupted work to widen the roads. Yalonda Henderson, national freight and project manager for GAC North America, said that the arrival of the vessel was scheduled with the roadworks in mind.

Jorge Pasaret, general manager for logistics services at Pemex, added: "We knew GAC could handle the transport, and we were confident that they would rise to any challenge that the weather and road conditions would present for this project."
