October 24 - Symphony Shipping has signed a contract with MirTac for the provision of Star fleet management software and related services on its newbuild DP2 vessels, Symphony Performer and Symphony Provider.

As part of the contract MirTac will provide bunkering data, voyage planning, crew planning and cash books, as well as a clear fleet dashboard and actual management reports.

In addition, vessel administration including bunkering data, voyage planning, crew planning and cash books are part of the implementation. A clear fleet dashboard and actual management reports enhance insight into the fleet performance and render tools to take appropriate actions.

The two vessels are scheduled for delivery to the company in December 2016 and April 2017, respectively. Symphony Performer was launched by the Ferus Smit shipyard in Leer on October 14.

Equipped with a Kongsberg K-Pos 21 DP2 system, the two ships will be used in cargo supply runs for offshore platforms, assisting pipe laying and cable laying operations, as well as decommissioning and offshore wind component feedering.

As well as the DP2 vessels under construction, Symphony also has six 1A FS-Ecobox 10,500 dwt multipurpose ships on order. Four newbuild vessels have already been delivered, while two more - Symphony Spirit and Symphony Space - are also under construction at the Ferus Smit shipyard.
