April 9 - Marine services provider Wilhelmsen Ship Services (WSS) will widen its offering in the offshore vessel and energy production segments in 2013, with a strong focus on opportunities in Singapore and Southeast Asia.

WSS's offshore capabilities cover safety systems, chemicals, full ships' agency services and a range of maritime products. For more than 30 years the company's primary focus has been the offshore supply vessel (OSV) market.

However, moving forward WSS will increase its focus on non-OSV markets, providing its safety services to customers in seismic exploration areas, mobile drilling rigs/platforms, accommodation platforms, pipe layers, speciality vessels, as well as on fixed installations and decommissioning sectors.

Michael Connolly, general manager west coast Oceania, WSS explained that the offshore market has been performing steadily in recent years, with high energy prices, new oil and gas field development and a greater use of technology creating opportunities for experienced service partners.

"There is currently huge potential for WSS to provide services across a much wider section of the offshore market across Asia Pacific, particularly within South Asia which is currently experiencing the highest concentration of offshore activity across the region," Connolly added.
