G'day as Aussie mining plant shipped to DRC

July 26 - An Australian gold processing plant purchased by Canadian mining company Banro for dismantling and reassembly in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) has begun arriving on site in the DRC.

The project cargo operation required 280 teu of material and is expected to take over two-and-a-half months to be finished.

Banro acquired the plant in Australia before shipping the Banro-owned Twangiza gold project in South Kivu Province of the DRC. The shipment travelled through Mombassa by sea before being trucked by road from the quayside. Civil works at the plant site are well advanced, with assembly of the reconditioned gold plant to begin in October this year. The final civil work is scheduled for completion in June 2011.

The consignment was moved on Beluga Felicity, a 12,744 dwt 138 m multipurpose vessel.
