Hull Blyth makes African acquisitions

May 7 - Ship agency specialist in West Africa, Hull Blyth, has acquired Mainport Africa Shipping and Kestrel Maritime in South Africa.

Mainport Africa Shipping is an independent ship agency led by Captain Brian Hawkins. The company's main focus is on the breakbulk and project sectors throughout South Africa.

Kestrel Maritime, sister company of Mainport Africa Shipping, also offers breakbulk and project cargo brokerage services in South Africa.

Hull Blyth group chairman James Baldwin noted: "Mainport and Kestrel's existing management and brand names will be retained within the wider Hull Blyth group.

"Brian Hawkins and his team will continue to work closely with their existing principals and business will carry on as usual. Hull Blyth is however keen to capitalise on Mainport's good name in the region to establish a further presence in neighbouring countries."
