Jumbo gets ball rolling

September 25 - Jumbo's heavy lift vessel Fairpartner has transported a 600-tonne spherical tank from a fabrication yard in Sattahip, Thailand to the Ichthys project's onshore LNG facility in Darwin, Australia.

The tank, which will be used to store refrigerated gas for start-up and commissioning, measures 17 m x 17 m x 22 m, and was shipped alongside a 63.3-tonne stair tower and 40.4-tonne platform.

Having been awarded the contract in July 2015, Jumbo worked extensively on a number of technical preparations, such as strict requirements for positioning the vessel at both ports, as well as lift and load spreading arrangements, and tidal restrictions in Darwin.

Last year, Jumbo handled the shipment of 12 storage tanks for the same project onboard its heavy lift vessel Fairpartner.
