The crane was hit by a ship, knocking it off its rails and causing it to lean over.

To avoid further damage and uncontrolled movements during the rescue operation, a diagonal element was attached to provide greater structural stability. The carne was then loaded onto temporary supports to await repair and eventual return to service.
