Sarens wins Ichthys project

September 25 - Sarens Group has been awarded a contract by JKC Australia LNG, to perform sea lifting works for the INPEX-operated Ichthys LNG project's onshore LNG facilities in Darwin, Australia.

Within a one-month time frame, Sarens will perform two major installation works. The first job includes the loading, transportation and installation of three jetty modules, the heaviest of which weighs around 472 tonnes.

These modules will be picked up from the module offloading facility and installed on the jetty head by a 1,250-tonne capacity Terex Demag CC6800 crane, which is mounted on a barge.

The second phase of the project involves the loading, transportation and installation of 14 jetty structures, which will be assembled on the East Arm Port and loaded by a 350-tonne capacity Liebherr LR1350 onto a second barge.

The structures will then be transported to the jetty head and installed by the barge-mounted Terex crane.

The Ichthys LNG project is a joint venture between INPEX, Total and the Australian subsidiaries of Tokyo Gas, Osaka Gas, Chubu Electric Power and Toho Gas. JKC is responsible for the engineering, procurement and construction of the project's USD15 billion onshore LNG facilities.

The project is expected to produce 8.4 million tonnes of LNG and 1.6 million tonnes of LPG per annum, along with approximately 100,000 barrels of condensate per day at peak.
