July 8 - Following reports in the international media that aircraft manufacturer Airbus plans to develop an A350 XWB freighter - offering around 90 tonnes of cargo capacity - an Airbus spokesperson has said there are no immediate proposals for a freight-o

The spokesperson revealed to HLPFI: "Airbus is positioning on the safe side - with the mid-size A330-200F at 70 tonnes facing the air cargo market's uncertainties.

"In the longer term there are two additional Airbus freighter possibilities - the A350 and A380 - depending on where the market goes. We'll leave the door open but mid-size is safe for now."

Commenting on the A350XWB specifically the Airbus spokesperson said that its priority is to produce and deliver the passenger aircraft, in line with its customers needs.
