Briese Schiffahrt has taken delivery of the F500-type BBC Tornio, with the vessel set to join the BBC Chartering fleet shortly.
Featuring enhanced Swedish/Finnish Ice class 1A, BBC Tornio will be able to make port calls in the northern parts of the Gulf of Bothnia, as well as in the St. Lawrence River during harsh winters. It is the second vessel of this sub-series of BBC Chartering’s F500-type fleet, with eight more units joining the roster in the coming years.
In addition, the multipurpose operator is continuing to take delivery of vessels in its newbuild LakerMax series. Last month, HLPFI reported that the latest in the series, BBC Sao Paulo, passed sea trials.
