March 24 - German wind turbine manufacturer Enercon has re-commissioned its E-1 Ship 1 vessel, which is now back in service transporting wind turbine components.

During 2013, Enercon took the E-1 Ship 1 out of service due to repeated technical issues with its diesel generators. While in drydock, seven generators were replaced and improvements were made to the vessel's on-board technical systems.

"The new engines and other improvements will make our ship's diesel-electric system even more efficient and will contribute to further increasing energy efficiency and reducing fuel consumption," explained Enercon managing director, Nicole Fritsch-Nehring.
