Antwerp and Rosmorport foster trade ties

February 14 - Belgium's port of Antwerp will collaborate with Rosmorport - the state-owned company that represents the interests of all Russian seaports.

Port of Antwerp International, the international subsidiary of Antwerp Port Authority, has signed a five-year collaboration agreement with Rosmorport. The two parties have agreed to share information with regard to port development, expansion of their respective transport and logistics networks, and attracting investment in port facilities.

Both have agreed to examine the energy efficiency of port facilities and how they can be improved, and how renewable energies can be used in this purpose.

According to Antwerp Port Authority, Russia is its fourth-largest trading partner - with 8.6 million tonnes of freight moving between the two during 2012. Approximately 90 percent of this cargo went between Antwerp and the Baltic coast of Russia.
