Here is this week's round up of capital projects and logistics contracts.

USD3.6 trillion is expected to be invested in power generation equipment and related infrastructure in the Asia-Pacific region between now and 2030, according to a new Bloomberg New Energy Finance report, with approximately two thirds earmarked for renewable power projects.

Renewable investment is no more visible than in China. After more than a decade's worth of work, this week saw China's second largest hydroelectric power station come online. Work began in 2003 on the 13.86 GW Xiluodu project, built on the Yangtze River in the southwestern Yunnan and Sichuan provinces. The developer, China Three Gorges Project Corporation (CTGPC), also commissioned the 5.9 GW Nuozhadu hydropower plant just last week and the 6.4 GW Xiangjiaba plant is scheduled to come online next month.

ABB has signed a five-year agreement with Shell to become its global single-source supplier of low-voltage switchgear, motor control centers and related services.

ABB has won an order worth USD78 million from Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) to supply transformers for two new combined-cycle power plants that will boost transmission capacity around the capital, Riyadh, and surrounding areas of the Central Region.

ABB also signed an agreement to divest the Meyer Steel Structures business of Thomas & Betts for USD600 million to Trinity Industries Inc. The all-cash transaction is expected to close in the third quarter of 2014, subject to regulatory clearance.

Alstom T&D India has been awarded a contract worth approximately USD47.56 million by Himachal Pradesh Power Transmission Corporation Limited to supply a 66 kV gas-insulated substation in Urni, Himachal Pradesh, in northern India. The aim of the project is to aim to help harness the 23,000 MW of hydropower potential in the state.

Alstom also signed its first wind power contract in Poland, valued at approximately EUR80 million, with PGE Energia Odnawialna for the supply of 30 ECO110 wind turbines for the Lotnisko 90MW wind farm.

Alstom has also been awarded a service contract by STEAG GmbH to apply flue gas corrosion protection in the steam generator of Weiher hard-coal power plant in the region of Saarland, Germany.

The Balfour Beatty Cavendish Nuclear joint venture has initiated the third phase of a contract to build a new silo maintenance facility for Sellafield Ltd, valued at USD274.41 million.

Bechtel and joint venture partner Enka have been selected by the government of Kosovo to build a new 60 km motorway linking the capital, Pristina, to neighboring Macedonia.

Bechtel in cooperation with Linde has been awarded a contract to design and build an ethylene plant in Texas for ExxonMobil.  The new facility will be one of the world's largest ethylene plants. Construction will begin immediately, with design and procurement of key equipment already under way.

Gamesa has reached a new agreement with the Uruguayan firm Astidey for the turnkey construction of a 50 MW wind farm in Uruguay.

Under the terms of the agreement, Gamesa will supply, transport, install and commission 25 G97-2.0 MW turbines at the Talas de Maciel I wind farm, located in the Department of Flores. The turbines are slated for delivery over the course of 2014 and the project will be fully commissioned by the middle of 2015

CH2M HILL has won a contract to carry out feasibility studies and design work for the electrification of the 278 railway line from Wegliniec to Gorlitz in Poland.

A Foster Wheeler's Global Engineering and Construction Group subsidiary has been awarded an EPCm contract by Owens Corning for a new composite materials manufacturing facility in Gastonia, North Carolina.

BHI Co Ltd has been awarded a contract by Samsung C&T for the design and supply of six heat recovery steam generators for the 2,100 MW Rabigh II combined-cycle power plant in Saudi Arabia.

Accenture has been awarded a multi-year managed services contract by Shell to support engineering, production and process control across its upstream and downstream operations.

CB&I has been awarded a contract by LSB Industries subsidiary, El Dorado Ammonia, to provide engineering, procurement, fabrication and construction for a 30,000 tonne, full-containment, low-temperature ammonia storage tank in El Dorado, Arkansas.

CB&I was also awarded contracts valued in excess of USD90 million by NefteGazIndustriya to provide the technology licenses and FEED services for the Afipsky Oil Refinery in Krasnodar, Russia.        

Hyundai Heavy Industries has received a Letter of Award (LOA) from Hess Exploration and Production Malaysia for the provision of engineering, procurement, construction, transportation, installation, hook-up and commissioning (EPCIC) contract for the Bergading Complex which comprises a central processing platform (CPP), a bridge and a wellhead platform.

Wood Group Kenny has been awarded an engineering services contract to support Tullow Ghana Limited and its partners through the execution phase of the Tweneboa, Enyenra and Ntomme (TEN) project, offshore Ghana. WGK will provide subsea, umbilical, risers, flowlines (SURF) engineering services.

Aker Solutions secured a contract from Statoil to provide maintenance and modifications services for the Mariner oilfield development in the UK North Sea.

Aker Solutions will deliver the maintenance planning system in the pre-operations phase of the development, as well as support services during the hook-up and commissioning phase. The contract includes maintenance and modifications services after the field is set to start production in 2017.

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (MHI) and Toyota Tsusho Corporation have jointly received an order from Upper Egypt Electricity Production Company (UEEPC) for three sets of 650 MW class supercritical pressure steam turbines and generators for the South Helwan Supercritical Power Plant.

Construction of the power generation facilities will begin in May 2016 and go on-stream progressively starting in early 2018.

Technip, leader of a joint venture with Fluor, was awarded a program management consultancy contract by PETRONAS for the Refinery and Petrochemical Integrated Development (RAPID) project located in the state of Johor, Malaysia.

Statoil entered into a framework agreement with Kvaerner for the delivery of jackets for the North Sea up until 2020. The companies will also sign a letter of intent for the delivery of two jackets to the Johan Sverdrup field.

Esso Belgium, a division of ExxonMobil Petroleum & Chemical B.V.B.A., revealed plans to install a new delayed coker unit at its Antwerp refinery to convert heavy, higher sulphur residual oils into transportation fuels products such as marine gasoil and diesel fuel. The new unit will expand the refinery's ability to help meet energy needs throughout northwest Europe, despite a challenging industry environment.

Statoil and Statkraft will start building the Dudgeon Offshore Wind Farm off the coast of Norfolk, UK in 2016.

First Solar has received board for financing to support construction of the 141 MW Luz del Norte solar power plant in Chile's Atacama Desert.

Gazpromneft-Sakhalin, a subsidiary of Gazprom Neft, has started drilling a new exploration well in the Dolginskoye field on the continental shelf in the Pechora sea.

A joint venture of Sabic and Mitsubishi Rayon has signed a contract to construct two plants in the east of the kingdom worth USD1.2 billion, reports Trade Arabia.

Siemens Energy has secured its first wind power contract in Belgium. 11 direct drive wind turbines will be delivered to the Siemens D3 platform in Summer 2015

Siemens has received an order from ThyssenKrupp Industrial Solutions AG to supply an Integrated Drive System for the expansion of PT Holcim Indonesia Tbk.'s cement plant in Java.

Upon completion it will have a daily capacity of 4,000 tons of cement. Operation is due to commence during 2015.

Furthermore, Siemens, in consortia with MMC Engineering Services has received an order from PETRONAS, for the turnkey construction of the Pengerang Co-generation Plant (PCP) in Malaysia. The order requires Siemens to undertake the turnkey construction of the PCP, which comprises four co-generation units along with a long-term maintenance and services contract.

Total is in exclusive talks with UGI Corporation, parent company of Antargaz, to sell its Totalgaz subsidiary.

Trade Arabia reports that Egypt's oil minister said that work on BP's USD10 billion natural gas project in the North Alexandria concession, stalled for the past three years, had restarted and that production would begin in 2017.

Petrofac has entered into a framework agreement with First Reserve to create PetroFirst Infrastructure Partners. The new venture intends to deploy capital both in purchasing a number of existing assets from Petrofac's Integrated Energy Services (IES), as well as in new energy infrastructure projects that utilise Petrofac's development capability.
