As of January 1, 2026, David Cormack has commenced his two-year tenure as chair of the board at Lifting Equipment Engineers Association (LEEA), taking over from Oliver Auston.

Cormack has served as vice chair alongside Auston for the last two years, having also been a member of LEEA’s technical committee. Cormack said: “A particularly important step in this next phase is the introduction of LEEA’s new end-user grade of membership. By directly engaging organisations that own, procure and operate lifting equipment, LEEA is strengthening its ability to influence safety and best practice at every point in the lifting lifecycle.”

Having spent his whole career in the lifting industry, Cormack started as an apprentice with Coubro & Sutton – a founding member and key supporter of the Chain Testers Association, which evolved into LEEA. In 2001, Cormack set up his own company – Delphini – which manufactures lifting, securing and access products primarily for the marine sector, along with producing specialist structural steelwork.

“It is important that LEEA keeps pace with a changing world, while continuing to raise standards and encourage safe practice,” added Cormack.

In June, HLPFI reported that the LEEA Southeast Asia regional council had convened for its inaugural meeting.
