More than 400 exhibitors will gather in Italy this week for the GIS exhibition, which will showcase mobile and tower cranes along with port handling equipment and specialised transport vehicles, among others.

Taking place from October 3-5 at the Piacenza Expo centre in Italy, the exhibition will also host technical seminars and conferences.

This year, the event space covers 35,000 sq m and, for the first time, includes hall number 3 along with a new outside area.

Fabio Potestà from event organiser MediaPoint said: “Italy remains the second-biggest manufacturing country in Europe and all [of these] companies need machines and lifting equipment, mechanised logistics and heavy transport vehicles, in order to bring heavy loads to be shipped from the Italian ports to the final destinations. It is worth reminding that GIS is officially supported by three very important institutional bodies: the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, the Ministry of Economic Development, the Ministry of Labour, but also by the Italian Army and by over 50 Italian main trade associations”.

During the event, the European association for the abnormal road transport and mobile crane rental industry (ESTA) will hold its autumn meetings. Potestà added that this enables the exhibitors and visitors to meet and network with potential buyers.
