Greencarrier bolsters management

June 2 - Greencarrier Freight Services has appointed Mikael Forsber as its new chief commercial officer, and promoted Jarmo Halonen to group director, road freight.

Forsberg, who formerly served as Nordic chief commercial officer at Maersk forwarding arm Damco, is the company's first head of global sales, and will be responsible for the execution and development of Greencarrier's new worldwide sales strategy.

Halonen joined Greencarrier three years ago as managing director of freight services in Finland, and has gained an extensive knowledge of the European road freight market over the past 20 years.

Greencarrier ceo Peter Nevhagen commented: "We have a very strong presence in Scandinavia, the Baltics and, increasingly, in eastern Europe. Our strategy is to accelerate this growth, particularly by targeting road freight in western Europe and extending our global services further."

The company will be expanding its management team further before the end of the year, with the recruitment process for a new manager in China currently under way.
