DAKO Worldwide Transport has coordinated the shipment of power plant components from Bergen, Norway, to the port of Big Creek, Belize, for onward delivery to Petén, Guatemala.
DAKO organised the ocean shipping of five 145-tonne generator sets as well as accessories for its longstanding partners from Guatemala, Daco Heavy Lift.
Detailed logistics planning and local expertise were crucial, given that the destination was a remote jobsite in the northern part of Petén – a region largely covered by jungle and part of the Maya Forest, the second-largest tropical rainforest in the Americas after the Amazon. The generators were separated from the genset base frames to reduce overall weight for the inland transport, allowing for a smoother journey to the site.
HLPFI reported earlier this month that DAKO had delivered an oversized boiler from Hungary to Germany.
