European abnormal load specialist Groupe Capelle has acquired Bristol-headquartered Kings Heavy Haulage as it looks to bolster its service offerings in the UK.

According to Groupe Capelle, the strategic integration of Kings Heavy Haulage marks a new phase in the group’s development in the UK, which already includes an agency in Chester. The group aims to strengthen its service offering in abnormal transport, particularly in the aerospace and defence sectors.
Based in Bristol, Kings Heavy Haulage boasts a fleet of low loaders, semi-low loaders, flatbeds and extendable trailers to offer a range of heavy transport services. From here, Groupe Capelle said the company is able to efficiently serve the UK and facilitate connections with the European continent.
The Kings Heavy Haulage brand, management team and commitments to its customers will remain unchanged, with the company noting that being part of the Groupe Capelle network will strengthen its position for the future.
“The arrival of Kings Heavy Haulage in our group represents far more than a simple geographical expansion,” said Jean-Daniel Capelle, chairman of the management board of Groupe Capelle. “It is the alliance of two companies, united by the same passion for the oversized and the same commitment to quality in the service of our clients.”
HLPFI reported in October that Augizeau Transports Exceptionnels, a subsidiary of Groupe Capelle, had delivered the components for the first V163 wind turbines installed in France on behalf of Vestas.
