Iván Jiménez has assumed the presidency of the Bilbao Port Authority in Spain, effective July 17, 2025.
Jiménez is an executive with upwards of 20 years of experience in developing strategies based on data, innovation and international partnerships. He takes on the role at the Bilbao Port Authority with the aim of tackling the challenges impacting the port.
It is believed that Jiménez’s experience in negotiation and institutional relations, paired with his strategic vision and understanding of large-scale data, make him the ideal individual to modernise and push the port of Bilbao into the global spotlight – leaning on the potential for development in innovation and digitalisation.
He succeeds Ricardo Barkala who has stepped down as president after being in the position since July 2018.
Last month, HLPFI reported that Haizea Bilbao, part of Haizea Wind Group, is expanding its footprint at the port of Bilbao.
