Lifting first for Balmer

June 6 - Balmer Spedition und LKW-Service has purchased its first mobile crane - a five-axle Liebherr LTM 1160-5.2.

Liebherr noted that this was an unusual acquisition for the German company, which generally focuses on the heavy transport side of the business, operating 32 units of heavy-duty transport equipment.

Specialising in the transportation of wind turbine components, Balmer decided to acquire an LTM 1160-5.2 for use in loading operations and to serve as an auxiliary crane during the erection of wind turbines.

The crane, which features a 62 m telescopic boom and can reach heights of up to 99 m, has already completed its first job, lifting tower sections weighing up to 80 tonnes and nacelles weighing up to 62 tonnes at a site in Switzerland.
