International Cargo Handling Association (ICHCA) has appointed Scott McKay as its chair, effective September 30, 2025.
A veteran with almost 40 years’ experience of supply chain management, McKay is keen to improve the safe working environment of those who handle cargo throughout the international maritime supply chain. ICHCA has members from the port, terminal, shipping and cargo handling community.

“I see that ICHCA has a fantastic opportunity to further develop gathering, analysing and sharing safety data and best practice to help improve safety decisions and cultural change along and across the cargo supply chain,” said McKay. As founder and chief executive of Flywheel Advisory, he helps organisations and businesses using supply chain as a differentiator to maximise profitability and service levels. He is also ceo of bulk grain handler T Ports.
He joined a state chapter of ICHCA Australia seven years ago, before being appointed chair. He became a member of the international board in November 2023. He was previously a chartered accountant at KPMG and a principal at design and delivery global infrastructure consultancy Aurecon. McKay has held senior roles in Europe, Asia and Australia, including as ceo in warehousing and road transport, container rail and intermodal and bulk ports operations.
McKay succeeds John Beckett, who has been with ICHCA for 18 years, including eight as chair.
