The fourth SAL Heavy Lift Day will be held at the Steigenberger Hotel in Hamburg on September 18, 2019.

Established in 2016, the annual SAL Heavy Lift Day comprises a range of speakers that discuss topics and issues relating to heavy lift shipping and industrial transport.

This year’s event includes an overview of the multipurpose shipping market and a world fleet outlook from Toepfer Transport’s Hannes Hollander (managing director) and Yorck Niclas Prehm (head of research). Wilhelm Borchert’s Maren Stünkel and Roman Poersch will lead a discussion on the potential effects of IMO 2020 sulphur regulations.

Erik Kravets, a lawyer from Kravets & Kravets, will highlight how counterparty risks are often misunderstood. Leif Arne Strømmen, vice president innovation at G2 Ocean, will take a look at the digital transformation in shipping, focusing on the use of blockchain.

From SAL Engineering, Karsten Behrens, director, will speak about fly-jibs in heavy lift shipping and the challenges of lift stability.

The day will conclude with a dinner cruise on the River Elbe.
