January 6 - Transpo Logistics has handled the shipment of a steel fabricating mill from the Port of Laem Chabang in Thailand to Altamira, Mexico.

Transpo Logistics' project forwarding group handled the overland transportation and ocean shipping of the consignment, which consisted of 29 units weighing a total of 481 tonnes, with the largest unit weighing in at 100 tonnes.

Loading and lowboy transport from the factory site to the port - a distance of 60 km - was scheduled during the night to minimise traffic disruption, and required a police escort.

Transpo also had to obtain export approval from the Customs and board of investment authorities because the equipment was part of a decommissioned steel plant, explained Waralee Jantiwatkun, deputy managing director of the company.

Transpo Logistics became a member of the Project Cargo Network (PCN) representing Thailand in June, 2013.
