July 1 - UK crawler crane hire company Weldex has taken delivery of the first of two new Terex Superlift 3800 lattice boom crawler cranes.

The second crane is scheduled for delivery in November 2015. The new 650-tonne capacity cranes will replace two existing 600-tonne capacity Terex CC 2800-1 crawlers purchased in 2008.

Weldex managing director Dougie McGilvray said: "These latest acquisitions are part of an ongoing investment plan designed to ensure that the Weldex fleet reflects the latest technology and most recent innovations. There is also a growing demand on many projects for cranes that are no more than seven years old.

"The Superlift 3800 was our preferred option for a number of reasons. It was not simply the extra capacity over our existing 2800-1s, but its lower transport weight and ability to erect longer boom systems unassisted."
