With a 450-tonne capacity and main boom length of up to 79.9 m, AKM opted for the AC 7.450-1 due to its compact size and performance. The Tadano all-terrain crane combines the dimensions of a six-axle crane with the strength of an eight-axle version. Sven Bauer, managing director at AKM, explained: “This is a crucial advantage, especially for operations in the city of Munich.”

Ordered with a luffing jib and sideway superlift (SSL), Bauer emphasised the significance of the crane’s ability to self-rig the SSL along with the IC-1 crane control system – which the company’s operators are familiar with. Moreover, the surround view camera system enhances safety, particularly when positioning the crane on tight construction sites as well as when operating in urban areas, where pedestrians are detected.

In October, HLPFI reported that Sotrama had taken delivery of an AC 5.250L-2 from Tadano.
