December 9 - US equipment manufacturer Engineered Rigging has unveiled its new Power Slide system at the Power-Gen conference in Las Vegas, which it says is ideal for moving heavy and oversize components in tight spaces.

The system is comprised of skid shoes, which are powered by hydraulic push/pull cylinders over high-strength flat-topped track. The Power Slide system has the capacity to move loads ranging in weight from 50 to 2,000 tonnes.

Engineered Rigging says that the system is ideal for moving components such as turbines, generators, transformers, vessels and motors, especially in situations where space is limited and the use of a crane is not possible.

The system's low track height reduces jacking requirements, which Engineered Rigging says enhances load and project safety. In addition, the company claims that the system's flat-topped track makes it easier to set up, use and maintain than traditional jack-and-slide system.

The Power Slide system can be custom-designed by Engineered Rigging at its fabrication facility in Arkansas.
