November 22 - The Netherlands-headquartered HEBO Maritiemservice will add a floating sheerleg crane to its fleet in January 2018.
Wiebbe Bonsink, ceo of HEBO Maritiemservice, said: "This sheerleg has a maximum lifting capacity of 900 tons (816.4 tonnes) and it also has an impressive lifting capacity at longer reaches." The crane can lift 800 tons (725.5 tonnes) at a reach of 22.5 m, and 500 tons (453.6 tonnes) at an outreach of 46 m.
The sheerleg will be purchased from DBB Salvage in Denmark. The sheerleg also includes a 100-ton (90.7-tonne) lift capacity auxiliary hoist, which has a maximum lifting height of 74 m and a maximum reach of more than 60 m.
"We can use it for activities in the Baltic Sea but also in the North Sea or in Rotterdam," said Bonsink.
The self-propelled sheerleg is also equipped with a dynamic positioning system. In the future, HEBO Maritiemservice intends to equip the crane with a jib. "This way, we will be able to lift heavy loads at greater heights," said Bonsink
