Marjorie makes maiden voyage

May 8 - Pasha Hawaii's new con-ro vessel Marjorie C has arrived at the Port of San Diego, California ready for its maiden voyage to Honolulu in Hawaii.

"After more than three and a half years of planning and construction, we are pleased to unveil a ship that has been designed to not only accommodate the varying needs of our customers, but a vessel that minimises our carbon footprint through extensive fuel consumption efficiencies and other green technologies," said Pasha Hawaii president and ceo George Pasha.

In addition to being equipped with the latest technologies to reduce environmental impact, the 692 ft (210.9 m) long Marjorie C has a 350-tonne capacity ramp, with the ability to carry 1,400 teus and transport up to 1,100 vehicles. The vessel can accommodate all sizes and types of containers and rolling cargo, said Pasha Hawaii, as well as featuring onboard cranes.

With this innovative vessel, Pasha Hawaii said that it hopes to establish new standards in shipping vehicles, trucks, boats, oversize cargo, and containers between the Hawaiian Islands and the West Coast.

In April 2015, HLPFI reported that the acquisition of Horizon Lines' Hawaii trade-lane business by the Pasha Group had been cleared by the US Department of Justice.
