May 18 - BigLift's Traveller has unloaded a consignment of heavy engineering items at the Oliwskie quay in the Port of Gdansk, which is keen to develop its involvement in handling over-dimensional and heavy cargoes.

The ship carried reactor parts destined for a construction site at Wloclawek. Two floating cranes, each with a lifting capacity of 275 tonnes, were used to load the reactor parts onto a pontoon. The unloading was undertaken in favourable weather and the pontoon will be used to move the parts 237 km south on the Vistula river to Wloclawek.

Discharge at the port supervised by the Gdynia-based company, Port Consultants which has considerable experience in handling such cargoes and was undertaken by stevedores employed by Port of Gdansk Cargo Logistics.
