Rivet rises from McAleese's ashes

January 27 - Mark Rowsthorn, major shareholder and co-founder of McAleese, has set up a new company in Australia called Rivet, a provider of specialised transport and logistics solutions.

HLPFI reported last September, that Rowsthorn's former company, McAleese, entered into voluntary administration, selling the entirety of its heavy haulage fleet to Perth based Centurion for an undisclosed amount.

While former McAleese co-owner Keith Price moved with the fleet to head up Centurion's heavy haulage operation, Rowsthorn set up a new company with three main divisions: Refuel International, Rivet Energy and Rivet Mining Services.

The mining services division, operating in Western Australia, New South Wales and Queensland, provides bulk haulage, ancillary onsite services to the mining services sector as well as a heavy haulage and lifting services.

According to Rivet, the heavy haulage and lifting services include transport, planning, scheduling and route survey preparation, as well as wet and dry crane hire services.

Rivet's senior management team consists of Rowsthorn, managing director and chief executive officer, and Philip Tonks, who also joins from McAleese, as chief operating officer.
