German heavy lift and transport specialist Schmidbauer has been progressively expanding its equipment fleet and now has over 200 SPMT axle lines, with eyes for further expansion.
The fleet currently comprises 208 axle lines, meaning Schmidbauer has the capacity to handle complex heavy transport challenges. “Loads exceeding 2,000 tonnes [are] becoming part of our daily business,” the company explained.
The modular platforms are used to serve a variety of sectors from offshore, infrastructure, energy and industrial projects. They are supported by 12 power-pack units (PPUs) in the Schmidbauer roster. Its goal is to operate 300 axle lines of SPMTs, with a special focus on electric and hybrid PPUs.
Schmidbauer’s equipment fleet was also boosted last year with the addition of a pair of MAN TGX 41.640 8x4/4 BB heavy-duty prime movers. They were deployed for the transport of cable drums for the SüdOstLink project in the first quarter of this year.
