This XCA60_EV can drive and perform lifting operations under full electric power and serve customers emission free. Delivery and commissioning of the unit is expected to take place this summer.

Wagenborg approached several suppliers with its desire for a mass-produced, CE-certified and TCVT-approved hybrid machine in 2019. XCMG’s XCA60_EV, which incorporates a large number of European components, is the only one so far to meet all the requirements of the Western European market, it said. In addition, the crane will be delivered with an EN13000 and an RDW inspection – a world first, said Wagenborg Nedlift.

A demonstration unit was tested extensively by Wagenborg Nedlift last year, and the company’s engineers played a prominent role in subsequent design and production processes to bring about the final XCA60_EV, added Gerard Bastiaansen, managing director of Wagenborg Nedlift.

The Netherlands has introduced strict emissions regulations and last year the government announced plans to slash nitrogen emissions in half by 2030. For the construction sector, some building projects are either on hold or at risk of being scrapped. Transportation, meanwhile, is adapting to new standards for fuel efficiency and electrification, while specific initiatives also include speed limits on highways.
