ALE partners with Dundee and OM Heavy Lift

ALE has entered an agreement with the port of Dundee and OM Heavy Lift, a subsidiary of OilMac, to provide port services for the renewable energy sector.

ALE will work alongside OM Heavy Lift at the port of Dundee for offshore wind energy and decommissioning projects in the North Sea. Following the agreement, ALE said it will provide a more comprehensive scope of heavy lift and port handling services to the renewable energy market.

The companies will utilise a Gottwald MK1500 heavy lift crane to assist with the port handling and storage of offshore modules.

Chris Taylor, commercial director for ALE, explained that the port of Dundee is becoming an increasingly big player in the offshore industry.

David Webster, port manager at Dundee, added that having the Gottwald MK1500 as a permanent fixture at the port helps to remove mobilisation charges for clients.

He said: “We place significant emphasis upon the decommissioning and renewables construction capabilities of the port of Dundee, and it becomes ever more attractive in this field as OM Heavy Lift’s Gottwald MK1500 and Olympus cranes mitigate those cranage costs.”
