Clarksons extends Irish footprint

June 12 - Clarkson Port Services (CPS) - the port and agency division of shipping services group Clarksons - has acquired Belfast based port agent Michael F. Ewings Shipping Ltd (MFE).

According to Andy Rham, managing director of Clarkson Port Services, the acquisition extends its geographic coverage for vessel agency, brokering and supply logistics into Northern Ireland: "The acquisition of Michael F. Ewings Shipping Ltd continues the Clarksons strategy of expanding its ports business into new locations to further meet the needs of existing and potential clients. We will continue to build on MFE's successful growth strategy, leveraging the Clarkson network to further expand and develop the business."
 
MFE ceo Michael Ewings, who will join the board of CPS, added: "We look forward to joining the Clarksons team at this exciting time in the company's development, CPS' experience coupled with our reputation in Northern Ireland and the shipping industry makes us an excellent fit and I look forward to working with such a dynamic organisation."
