CM Labs launches tandem training tool

CM Labs Simulations has launched a crawler crane operator training tool that focuses on tandem operations.

The training pack teaches the lead crane operator how to safely and efficiently manoeuvre a pipe load in tandem with a secondary crane, operated from another simulator connected on the network. 

CM Labs said the pack can be deployed in multiple configurations, with operators working on a range of its Vortex training simulators.

The collaborative learning scenario exposes operators to the requirement for constant communication and clear cues on the work site, added CM Labs.

“Accidents happen when crews are not used to each other. That’s why collaborative training is effective training,” explained Drew Carruthers, CM Labs’ director of training solutions. “This solution embeds multiple trainees in an engaging learning process, as well as helping develop critical teamwork and communication skills that are difficult to teach safely in the field.”
