Hareket in TBM move

Hareket has dismantled and moved the main bearing of a tunnel boring machine (TBM) in mid-western Turkey.

The operation took place approximately 10 km east of Bilecik.

A 12-axle assist and self-propelled modular trailer with conventional steering (APMC) was used to move the main bearing, which weighed 215 tons (195 tonnes) and measured 2.8 m x 6.3 m x 6 m.

One of the main challenges of the project, according to Hareket, was the fact that the unit’s height was larger than its width, which made it particularly difficult to transport along bumpy surfaces – “the slightest acceleration or braking could easily cause it to tip off”, said the company.
