Hareket wins Duqm heavy lift work

Turkey’s Hareket has been awarded a heavy lifting contract by the joint venture of Samsung Engineering and Petrofac International to support the construction of the Duqm refinery in Oman.

The utilities and offsite (U&O) packages will see Hareket engineer, supervise and perform some critical heavy lifts for the project, including tandem lifts using 1,600-ton (1,451.5-tonne) and 1,250-ton (1,134-tonne) capacity cranes and the installation of a 190 m-tall flare.

To support the project, Hareket has opened an office in Oman that will oversee the company’s involvement. The Omani branch will offer the company’s engineered heavy lift and transportation services as well as crane rental in the country.
