September 3 - High Wind has appointed Ole Jacob Wang Nielsen to serve as the company's head of business development, and continue the commercialisation of its new product, Boom Lock.

Boom Lock was created by High Wind to allow for the safe installation of wind turbine components in higher wind speeds.

Nielsen brings eight years of experience in the offshore wind industry to this new role, having held positions at both DBB Jack-Up and A2SEA.

The first Boom Lock was completed in January 2015 and undertook extensive testing at the REBO site in the port of Ostend, where it outperformed the design specification by keeping a 6MW turbine blade steady in wind gusts of up to 20 m/s.

HLPFI reported that High Wind had officially launched its Boom Lock system in March 2015.
