Hornsea turbine installation complete

Fred. Olsen Windcarrier’s installation vessel Bold Tern and DEME’s Sea Challenger have completed the installation of wind turbines at the Hornsea One offshore wind farm.

Installation of the Siemens Gamesa SWT-7.0-154 turbines began in February 2019.

Hans-Petter Austad, project manager at Fred. Olsen Windcarrier, said: “In close cooperation with our client Ørsted and installation contractor Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy, we have installed 91 turbines safely and efficiently on the Hornsea One offshore wind farm. The installation vessel Bold Tern has had an excellent performance during the operational phase with a minimum of downtime.”

Located off the coast of Yorkshire in the UK, the 1.2 GW wind farm comprises 174 turbines.
