Germany’s Mukran Port is to work with the Polish government to lead the Interreg project entitled South Baltic Transport Loops for the next three years.

The initiative aims to develop the business of small and medium-sized ports around the southern Baltic Sea, involving partner ports located in Denmark, Poland and Sweden. Special consideration is given to the optimisation of respective hinterland connections, Mukran said.

Interreg helps regional and local governments in Europe to develop and deliver policy, and is supported by the European Regional Development Fund.

According to Harm Sievers, Mukran Port managing director, the port has previously participated in two EU projects.
