Offshore Heavy Transport (OHT) has transported the first eight jacket foundations for the Moray East offshore wind farm to the port of Nigg in Scotland

The three-legged jackets, fabricated by Lamprell in the UAE, were transported onboard OHT's semi-submersible vessel Osprey and arrived at the port during the first weekend of May.

The transportation from the site in Hamriyah, Dubai took 39 days, covering 12,000 nautical miles. Each jacket has an average weight of more than 1,000 tonnes and measures 80 m in height.

The transportation of all 48 jackets for the wind farm is expected to be complete by October 2020. Three of OHT’s open deck semi-submersible heavy transportation vessels will be deployed for the project.
