August 4 - More than 90 freight movers and ship owners from 34 countries converged in Corpus Christi for the five-day Project Professionals Group (PPG) conference, which began last week

The event gave officials from the port the opportunity to speak about the Corpus Christi's infrastructure and promote the local economy by appealing to shippers from around the world.

Participants discussed the most effective ways of moving complex, unconventional cargo and materials across the globe.

Examples of unconventional cargo includes wind turbine parts, which the Corpus Christi port has been receiving in recent years.

The conference was the first by the PPG, a specialist network for companies involved in project cargoes, to be held in the United States.

Other major guest presenters included representatives from Rickmers-Linie GmbH (Germany), Scan-Trans Worldwide Shipping (Denmark), Chipolbrok America, Beluga Shipping (Germany), TransGroup Worldwide Logistics (USA), Sun Communications (Australia), Sinokor Merchant Marine (Korea), Quebec Stevedoring Company, Tradelossa (Mexico), Sahil Freight Express (India) and Sea-Concert (Thailand).
