Taiwan’s Formosa 1 reaches logistics milestone

All 20 foundation monopiles destined for the Formosa 1 Phase 2 offshore wind farm project in Taiwan have left the EEW Special Pipe Construction yard in Germany on board two heavy lift vessels, according to the Jan De Nul Group.

Some of the components were loaded on board the semi-submersible vessel Sun Shine.

Now that the monopiles are on their way to the port of Taichung, installation activities at the site can begin soon.

As part of the project, Jan De Nul has coordinated the storage and transport of the foundation structures, as well as the installation of transition joint bays and land cables.

The Formosa 1 offshore wind farm is located 3 km off the coast of Miaoli.
