AAL has launched a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, Get Onboard, that offers free cargo transport for registered charities worldwide.

Launched on April 8 for an indefinite period, AAL said it will consider any registered charity regardless of the chosen cause. The shipping line will be circulating details and terms and conditions to registered charitable organisation databases and promoting the initiative online.

Kyriacos Panayides, managing director of AAL, explained that the Covid-19 outbreak has devastated supply chains and has caused significant financial pressures for a number of companies.

“This is especially true of charities, who rely on the goodwill of individual and institutional donors to get help. Unfortunately, widespread job losses, social distancing regulations, and the global economic downturn means they are losing much needed support and revenue.

"We have a fleet of multipurpose, heavy lift ships operating non-stop and carrying cargo between large and small ports in key markets across the world, including Oceania, Asia, India, Middle East, Europe, Africa, and the Americas.”
