The 500-nautical mile tow-out of Statoil's Aasta Hansteen platform began on April 12, 2018.

Five tugs with a combined power output of 150,000 horsepower will tow the 46,000-tonne platform from Stord, Norway, to the Aasta Hansteen gas field, located in the Vøring area of the Norwegian Sea. The tow is expected to take 12 days to complete.

Statoil said the field is being developed with a Spar FPSO platform, the first of its kind on the Norwegian Continental Shelf (NCS) and the largest in the world.
