The 2+6 axle semi-low loader first had to reverse into the construction site and manoeuvre into position, utilising the trailer’s steering angle of up to 60 degrees to navigate the limited space at the site. Once in position, the awaiting drilling rig was driven aboard the 900 mm-wide double ramps of the CombiMAX with centimetre precision.

The 4.5 m-tall machine was then secured with chains and primed for the 95 km journey to Schrobenhausen for preparation for its next assignment.

To reach the customer’s site, the combination first had to navigate through the plant’s narrow entrance and exit to reach the edge of a nearby residential area, where it parked up to wait for nightfall.

With escort vehicles ready, the journey to Schrobenhausen began. The convoy had to briefly halt traffic at one intersection; navigate a 90-degree turn; head uphill through Landsberg; and navigate numerous underpasses.

Upon location, the drilling rig was unloaded and the first task for Wiedemann Transporte’s CombiMAX PA-X semi-trailer was complete.
