Project freight forwarder DAKO Worldwide Transport has delivered more than 10,000 freight tons of oversized equipment to be used in the mining industry.

DAKO handled mill shell sections which weighed over 100 tonnes each and measured 11.5 m x 7.55 m x 3.65 m. The cargoes originated from Europe, Asia, and Australia, with DAKO coordiating pre-carriage by road and waterways, port handling and several part charters.

Key to the project’s success was coordinating several part charters across continents to align with specific construction schedules, along with tackling temporary low water levels across some of Europe’s rivers and draft restrictions, quay strength, and inland transport clearances through detailed planning.

DAKO utilised custom lifting frames, multi-axle trailers, and reinforced saddles to ensure secure and safe handling throughout the various phases of the project.

Last month, HLPFI reported that DAKO had supported a power plant project in Colombia.
