Damen is transporting 24 built-for-stock vessels from China to the port of Rotterdam on board United Heavy Lift’s vessel Tasmanic Winter.

Tasmanic Winter travelled along the Northern Sea Route (NSR), which, according to Damen, can reduce the journey time by up to eight days, compared with the traditional southern route.

The consignment included various tugs, pontoons, launches and a Multi Cat 1506, which had had all been manufactured at Damen’s Chinese yards in Changde and Yichang and transported to Rotterdam as part of the Dutch shipbuilding company’s strategic positioning of vessels in Europe.

This is the second time that Damen has shipped a collection of vessels in 2018. In April, the SAL Heavy Lift vessel Lone arrived in Rotterdam from Shanghai with Damen pontoons on board, as HLPFI reported here.

The majority of the vessels positioned in the Netherlands will be ready for sale to customers seeking the shortest possible delivery times, including customisation when required.
