The company’s special projects division executed the work, replacing traditional wooden cribbing with the cube jacks that allowed for quicker and safer installation.

Transported to the generator building on a Denby Transport flatbed trailer, the 5 m-long generator was raised off the trailer using four SCJ-50 cube jacks and lowered onto static load holders. The cube jacks were repositioned on 0.5 m-high static load holders to complete the lift to 2.35 m, allowing the generator to be skidded into its final resting position.

Denby Transport’s director of special projects, George Elliott, said the cube jack with its small footprint is ideal for confined spaces. “It’s also easy to use, provides a stable lift and allows two-man lifts where previously we’d have needed three or four people using conventional jacks, which would have taken a lot longer,” he added.
